Orthopaedic Trauma

Loyola University Hospital is designated by the state of Illinois as a Level I Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric patients. As part of the highly sophisticated trauma team, the orthopaedic service includes fellowship-trained orthopaedic and trauma specialists with experience in orthopaedic trauma.

The orthopaedic trauma team has special expertise in treating the following injuries and injury-related problems:

  • Complex fractures of the pelvis
  • Fractures involving the spine
  • Fractures that don’t heal (nonunions)
  • Fractures that heal in a poor position (malunions)
  • Infections
  • Multiple traumatic injuries and fractures
  • Open fractures
  • Reconstruction of severely injured joints and bones
  • Severe upper and lower extremity fractures
