The Loyola rehabilitation program includes hospital care, a special rehabilitation unit, home therapy and a variety of outpatient services.
Hospital Care
The primary goal of hospital/inpatient medical rehabilitation is to assist
patients with more significant impairments and medical problems in returning
to an independent and productive life. The state-of-the-art program is
housed within Loyola University Hospital. The Loyola rehabilitation unit
offers physician availability 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition,
rehabilitation-trained nurses are on the unit 24 hours per day. Throughout
the rehab stay, the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team members collaborate
closely with each other and with you to formulate and carry out an individualized
plan of care.
Special Rehabilitation Unit
Loyola also provides inpatient rehabilitation services to those who no
longer need to be in the hospital but are not quite ready to return home.
This rehabilitation unit is located in nearby Hillside. While staying
at the rehab unit, you will benefit from the expertise of the Loyola rehabilitation
specialists as the Loyola physiatrist directs the care of the patient
by the team.
Home Therapy Services
Many patients are able to live at home but are not able to safely travel
to therapy facilities to receive rehabilitation services. Under the direction
of the physiatrist, you can continue to receive physical therapy, occupational
therapy, speech therapy, respiratory care, nursing care and social work
services right in your own home.
Outpatient Services
Physical therapy, along with speech and occupational therapy, are offered
at the following Loyola sites: Center for Health on Roosevelt, Oabrook
Terrace Medical Center, Center for Health at Hickory Hills and Center
for Health at Homer Glen.
