Knees

The knee is the largest joint in the body, making it vital to movement and one of the most easily injured. Loyola experts work together to provide services to our patients suffering from a variety of disorders and injuries related to the knee. In this multidisciplinary approach, we can offer a wide range of both non-surgical and surgical options.

The team can provide the full array of non-surgical care such as physical therapy, injections, bracing and pain medication management, when indicated. When more invasive treatment is needed, the highly trained surgical team has the expertise to provide you the following services:

  • ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) reconstruction
  • Arthroscopy
  • Cartilage restoration
  • Core decompression
  • Distal femoral osteotomy
  • High tibial osteotomy
  • Minimally invasive total knee replacement
  • Partial knee replacement
  • Patellar realignment (knee cap)
  • Patellar replacement (knee cap)
  • Patello-femoral replacement
  • Proximal tibial osteotomy
  • Revision knee replacement
  • Total knee replacement

Patients undergoing joint replacement may be candidates for a revolutionary use of pain medication that helps patients manage pain better immediately following surgery. Orthopaedists work together with pain management specialists in the Department of Anesthesiology. If eligible, patients may receive a new continual peripheral nerve block catheter in which a catheter is placed near the nerve responsible for pain in the upper or lower extermity. The cather then releases computerized doses of pain medication, bathing the nerve. Patients can increase the volume and amount they receive based on need.
