Trauma/Critical Care

Neurological surgery plays a major role in the care and treatment of traumatically injured patients at Loyola University Hospital and Cook County Hospital. The availability of a flying emergency room helicopter – the Loyola LIFESTAR – promotes efficient transfer of patients suffering from urgently life-threatening conditions such as brain hemorrhage or stroke. Loyola’s 13-bed neurosciences intensive care unit provides a state-of-the-art facility to manage critically ill neuroscience patients.
