Psychiatry
& Behavioral Neurosciences
Faculty
in the Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences Department
care for people of all ages – children, adolescents,
adults and seniors – with mental, emotional and
behavioral challenges. Services range from outpatient
counseling for people grappling with the stresses of
everyday life to inpatient care for major mental illness.
As
part of a major medical center, the faculty has special
expertise in helping patients adjust emotionally and
functionally to all types of pain and illness. They
also collaborate closely with neurologists and neurosurgeons
to treat patients with illnesses and injuries that affect
the nervous system.
Teamwork
is the hallmark of the department’s operations:
Teamwork among psychiatrists, psychologists and social
workers, as well as collaboration with medical specialists
in other departments. At the center of the team are
the patient and family. Their needs and preferences
are the first priority in delivering high quality care.
