Nasal
Sinus Center
The
Nasal Sinus Center was established to provide comprehensive
assessment, diagnosis and treatment of nasal and sinus
problems, such as blocked nasal breathing, nasal drainage,
post-nasal drip, pain in the temples or above the eyes
and occasional headaches. These ear, nose and throat
specialists -- otolaryngologists -- treat both adults
and children.
Physicians
in the center are nationally recognized for their clinical
expertise and have trained hundreds of practicing physicians
nationwide on the latest diagnostic and treatment methods.
Patients from throughout the Midwest come to the center
seeking a second opinion after being treated unsuccessfully
elsewhere.
Loyola
University Health System (Loyola) has the only major
sinus center for children in the Midwest; very few sinus
surgeons are able to perform the extremely delicate
operations on children.
In
the 1980s, physicians at Loyola pioneered the use of
endoscopic methods (with a small camera) for diagnosing
and treating sinus disease and have achieved excellent
results. To date, more than 3,000 sinus surgeries have
been performed on an outpatient basis. Balloon sinusplasty
is among the procedures offered at Loyola's sinus center.
