What
are "neurosciences"?
Neurosciences bring together experts who treat disorders
of the brain, spine, peripheral nervous system, and
ear, nose and throat.
The
Neurosciences at Loyola
Loyola University Health System’s (Loyola) neurosciences
program weaves together neurological surgeons, neurologists,
otolaryngologists and neuropsychiatrists, with their
supporting colleagues, to deliver the latest treatments
and research with the compassionate care for which Loyola
is known. Together, our physicians and caregivers form
a cohesive unit that seamlessly delivers optimal treatments
to our patients.
Meeting
the Challenges of Neurological Disorder
Neurological disorders can be caused by a wide range
of factors, from genetic abnormalities or immune system
deficiencies, to injury to the brain or nervous system
or diabetes. As such, neurological disorders may be
diverse, chronic and challenging to treat. Loyola’s
physicians achieve the best medical care for each patient
by working as an multidisciplinary team to develop a
customized treatment plan.
Backed
by a System of Care
Loyola’s neurosciences program is backed by the
strength of the Loyola University Health System. Some
5,000 physicians, medical professionals, researchers,
educators and support staff are available to meet the
medical, emotional and spiritual needs of each individual
who comes for care.
Loyola
is a leader in conducting research in the treatment
of neurological disorders. We pursue clinical and basic
research and, through our affiliation with the Loyola
University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, educate
new residents and investigators.
Loyola’s
neurosciences team views patient care as a partnership
among the patient, the family, the referring physician
and our specialists. We work to ensure that the process
of referring a patient to Loyola is a smooth one. We
are available for clinical consultations and after treatment,
when patients are returned to the care of the referring
physician, to answer questions.
