Loyola’s Pacemaker/Defibrillator Clinic
is staffed by experienced nurses and technicians who
will answer any questions, monitor devices, retrieve
information from devices and adjust the settings, if
needed. Our staff is expert in the follow-up evaluation
of pacemakers, defibrillators, biventricular pacing
devices and atrioverters. Due to our expertise, the
clinic is an active research participant in the implantation
and evaluation of new cutting edge device technology
as it becomes available.
Phone monitoring is available for patients who have
trouble coming to the clinic for visits, or for a device
that is demonstrating battery wear.
A pacemaker usually involves two visits per year to
the clinic.
An ICD may require four visits per year, depending on
the patient and the frequency of device discharges.
