Clinic Day Expectations - Thoracic Surgery Services

When you arrive at the Loyola Outpatient Center or the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center for the first visit, we ask that you bring the following items:

  • Written medical record, including laboratory and treatment information to date

  • Chest X-rays and reports

  • CAT scans, MRI scans and reports

  • Pulmonary or esophageal test reports (e.g.: bronchoscopy, Barium swallows)

  • Pathology slides and reports

  • Operative reports that are pertinent to your medical condition

During your visit you will have the opportunity to meet your thoracic team. Your records will be reviewed, and you will have an examination by the physician. Additional tests that are needed to complete a diagnosis or are required for pre-operative information will be ordered that day.

You will have time to discuss your concerns and questions relating to your surgical condition. Your doctor will give you the information to help you understand why surgery is the best option for you. Your surgery may be scheduled at this time, or a follow-up appointment will be made after your preliminary testing is complete.
