Chest
Pain Emergency Evaluation Center
Patients who arrive at Loyola University
Medical Center's Emergency Department with chest pain
are brought immediately to an emergency room bed. An
electrocardiogram (EKG) and blood work (to check for
special blood enzyme levels that occur with a heart
attack) are taken, and the patient is immediately evaluated
by a physician.
If the patient is having a heart attack, he or she is
transported immediately to one of our on-site state-of-the-art
cardiac catheterization labs
for immediate diagnosis and treatment.
Patients who are not having a heart attack may be admitted
for further observation and evaluation.
