Cardiac Care Unit

The cardiac care unit (CCU) at Loyola's Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine has eight private rooms. Each room is equipped with state-of-the-art heart monitoring, giving our specialized cardiac nurses the ability to monitor each patient from any patient room or our central monitoring station. We also have a large waiting room for families and friends.

Patient Population
Typical patients who stay in the CCU include those who have had the following procedures: 

  • CABG

  • Angioplasty

  • Angiogram

  • Rule-out myocardium infarction

  • Myocardium infarction

  • Septal ablation for hypertropic cardiomyopathy

  • Advance/decompensated heart failure

  • Unstable angina

  • Beta/gamma radiation procedure

  • Pacemaker implantation

  • AICDs

  • Cardioversion
