The cardiac care unit (CCU) at Loyola's
Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine has eight private
rooms. Each room is equipped with state-of-the-art heart
monitoring, giving our specialized cardiac nurses the
ability to monitor each patient from any patient room
or our central monitoring station. We also have a large
waiting room for families and friends.
Patient Population
Typical patients who stay in the CCU include those who
have had the following procedures:
CABG
Angioplasty
Angiogram
Rule-out myocardium infarction
Myocardium infarction
Septal ablation for hypertropic cardiomyopathy
Advance/decompensated heart failure
Unstable angina
Beta/gamma radiation procedure
Pacemaker implantation
AICDs
Cardioversion
