Psychology Support Services
Continuum of Care

The Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center Psychosocial Oncology Service provides psychological assessment and support services for adult cancer patients and their families in individual group or family sessions. A support group for patients and their loved ones is offered several times during the year. Outpatient appointments are available as well as psychological services during hospitalization at Loyola University Medical Center.

By working with a clinical psychologist, you will:

  • Receive counseling to help you deal with the distressing emotions of a cancer experience.
  • Learn stress management techniques and receive instructions in relaxation and imagery exercises to promote healing and decrease distress.
  • Improve problem-solving and communication skills to enhance relationships.
  • Learn how to cope with troubling thoughts and improve your quality of life.
