Cancer Treatment
If you have breast cancer, then turn to our nationally
recognized staff of breast cancer specialists
at Loyola's Breast Oncology Center within the
Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center. Our comprehensive
approach means you have access to an experienced
team of surgical, medical and radiation oncologists,
radiologists, pathologists and nurses.
One
Visit, One Location
Loyola is one of a select group of institutions
nationally that offers a one-visit, team approach
for patients who have been diagnosed with breast
cancer. In just one visit, you'll meet with a
medical team, including the surgical, medical
and radiation oncologists. That same day, the
breast care oncology team meets in the Patient
Care Review Session to collaborate on an overall
evaluation and provide treatment recommendations.
Radiologists, pathologists and research nurses
also are part of the meeting. After a consensus
opinion of the best treatment approach is reached,
the team will again meet with you that same day
to convey this consensus to you and your family.
Being at Loyola means that you will have access
to leading-edge treatments, while Loyola's Breast
Research Program works to provide access to
a broad menu of national and international clinical
trials.
Compassionate
Care
To support your physical, emotional and spiritual
needs, our nursing staff will connect you with
experienced social workers, pastoral care providers,
psychologists, dieticians and genetic counselors
through the Coleman Foundation
Image Renewal Center.
