| What
Type of Appointment Do I Need?
The
type of appointment you schedule with a Loyola
Breast Care specialist depends on your current
health status and your need for a visit.
- If
you have a prescription for a screening mammogram,
you may have one done at any of our 10 locations.
- If
you have not been diagnosed with breast cancer
and have a breast problem, you will be seen
at the Breast Diagnostic Center within the Loyola
Outpatient Center in Maywood. Nurses will follow-up
with you by phone to assist in making any necessary
diagnostic breast imaging appointments you may
need prior to your appointment as well as tell
you what you
should bring to your appointment.
- If
you have been diagnosed with breast cancer,
you will be seen in the multidisciplinary Breast
Oncology Center at the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer
Center. You will need
to bring any previous tests and/or reports
for your visit. On the day of your visit, you
will participate in an orientation session,
tour the cancer center and visit with the multidisciplinary
Breast Oncology Center team. The entire health-care
team will meet on a single day to collaborate
on your best treatment plan and then give you
a consensus opinion regarding your treatment
plan. This is a one-visit,
team approach to patient care.
- If
you have been diagnosed as a patient at increased
risk for breast cancer based on family history
or other characteristics, you will be seen at
the Cancer Risk Assessment
& Prevention clinic at the Cardinal
Bernardin Cancer Center. On the day of your
visit you will see a multidisciplinary team
of health-care professionals specializing in
risk assessment and prevention of breast cancer.
To

services, call (888) LUHS-888.
