Critically ill newborns receive the best combination of advanced technology and compassionate care at the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center. Because of its size and capabilities as a Level III Perinatal Center, we serve a number of community hospitals throughout the region. Our warm, friendly environment includes a 50-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where you can visit nearly any time of day or night and support your baby. Babies not born at Loyola can be transferred to us by our LIFESTAR helicopter or by ambulance. Our multidisciplinary staff includes board-certified neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, experienced neonatal nurses and neonatal respiratory therapists, as well as specialists in neonatal pharmacy, nutrition, and social work - all committed to improve the lives of sick infants, and help them grow to become healthy babies, while providing support for their families. We also offer a unique Neonatal Home Care Program that provides care givers training and allows some babies to be discharged early with the support of neonatal nurse visits at home.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has one of the state’s highest survival rates for low-birth-weight infants.
Integrated Neonatal Home Care Program
This unique program allows some premature babies to be discharged early with the support of parental training and home visits by neonatal nurses.
Neonatal Follow-Up Clinic
High risk neonates discharged from NICU are offered developmental screening.
