Infectious Diseases

An infection that won’t go away or that can’t be identified is as frustrating for a parent as it is difficult for a child. In the Infectious Diseases clinic of the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola, our goal is to diagnose an infection quickly and accurately, so that we can begin effective treatment right away. Our specialists are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of complicated infectious disease problems such as:

  • Unusual rashes
  • Congenital infections
  • Kawasaki’s disease
  • Bone and joint infections
  • Meningitis
  • Fever of uncertain origin
  • Recurrent infections
  • Infections from birth

We also have a special interest in treating children who require long-term antibiotic therapy and evaluating children with suspected immunodeficiency states, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
