Home Care

The Pediatric Home Care program, a component of the Ronald McDonaldŽ Children's Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center, provides home care services for children. A special neonatal care program facilitates the early discharge of neonates from neonatal intensive care units (NICU) or other areas. Care is provided by NICU nurses trained in home care and includes:

  • Skilled nursing
  • High-tech infusion services
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech/language pathology
  • Medical social services
  • Home health aides
  • Transition to oral feeding for preterm infants

The Hospice Program
The Hospice Program of Loyola provides hospice services to adult and pediatric patients. Services include:

  • Physician services
  • Skilled nursing
  • Chaplain/counseling services
  • Medical social services
  • Therapies
  • Home health aides
  • Bereavement services
  • Volunteer services
  • Dietary consultation

Care is provided in the patient's home, with inpatient care for symptom control and pain management provided at Foster G. McGaw Hospital at Loyola University Medical Center. Respite care is provided at skilled nursing facilities or at long term care facilities in the community.

Home Infusion Pharmacy Program
The Home Infusion Pharmacy program provides the following therapies:

  • Antibiotic / Antiviral / Anti-fungal
  • Total Parenteral Nutrition
  • Chemotherapy
  • Pain Management Therapy via IV, Inj., or Sub Q
  • Cardiovascular - Inotropics
  • Hydration
  • IVIG - Immunoglobulin
  • IGG - Immunosuppressive
  • Colony Stimulating Factor
  • Erythropoetin Factor
  • Injectables Steroids – i.e. SoluMedrol for MS diagnosis
  • Cheletion

Locations
Loyola provides services in a geographic area of about 50 mile radius around LUMC. This area includes city and suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, and parts of Lake county.
