All parents have heard their child complain of a stomach ache at one time or another and oftentimes they are easily treatable at home. Beyond common causes such as a virus, children sometimes have more serious stomach and intestinal disorders that require a closer look. At the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola, our experts in gastroenterology and hepatology diagnose and treat disorders such as:
We offer a variety of state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures, including upper and lower GI series, and visual examination of the gastrointestinal tract. Other diagnostics include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, percutaneous liver biopsy, intestinal biopsy, esophageal and rectal manometry, pH probe, string test and hydrogen breath (H2) test.
Clinical Nutrition Program
Expert caregivers treat nutrition-related diseases in both outpatient and inpatient settings. We also work with developmentally disabled children who have feeding problems.
Complementary and Alternative Medicine
Our pediatricians can also treat gastrointestinal problems with alternative medicine techniques, such as acupuncture or hypnosis and integrate them with conventional medical treatments.
