Nephrology
Services
Nephrologists
offer evaluation and treatment of patients with acute
and chronic kidney diseases. These include kidney stone
disease, disorders of fluid and electrolytes, and renal
disease during pregnancy. The specialists also have
gained recognition for its expertise in treating difficult-to-manage
and complicated renal hypertension. Services include
renal biopsy; metabolic evaluation of kidney stones;
and all forms of renal replacement therapy, such as
renal transplantation, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Services
Hemodialysis
The facility for outpatient hemodialysis has 30 hemodialysis
stations and provides more than 21,000 outpatient treatments
a year.
Kidney
Transplantation Program
Nephrologists work with transplant surgeons to provide
consultation before kidney transplantation and long-term
follow-up care after transplantation.
Research
An
active research program is being conducted in the following
areas: hypertensive and diabetic kidney disease, genetic
factors in kidney disease, pathogenesis of renal hypertension
in experimental models, evaluation of new therapies
for renal hypertension, development and evaluation of
new dialysis therapies, and management of anemia and
other complications of chronic kidney disease.
