Occupational Therapy Services

Occupational therapists provide evaluation and therapy services focused on the tasks and movements associated with daily living for newborns through the elderly. Diagnoses include illness, disease processes, congenital anomalies, developmental delays and traumatic injuries. Our multidisciplinary staff is committed to improve the quality of your life and to make everyday activities easier for you.

A physician's referral is required to begin therapy services.

Specialty Programs
Patients with a variety of diagnoses can benefit from our comprehensive occupational therapy treatments:

  • Hand injuries or anomalies

  • Sensory integration issues

Additionally, Loyola's occupational therapists provide services for adults trying to return to their workplace following an accident, injury or medical condition:

Pediatric Treatment Techniques
Both inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy services for children are provided through the Ronald McDonald® Children's Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center. Caring for children offers unique challenges. Treatments may include:

  • Equipment adaptions
  • Fabrication of static and dynamic orthoses (splints)
  • Facilitation of normal adaptive/cognitive, fine motor, personal, social and self-help skills
  • Improving emotional maturation, attention skills and self concept
  • Measuring and fitting of upper body compression garments
  • Scar management
  • Sensory processing evaluation and treatment
