Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Services

Lung and critical care specialists provide evaluation and treatment of a wide range of acute and chronic lung diseases. These include acute respiratory failure, asthma, emphysema, lung cancer, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, pulmonary hypertension and sarcoidosis. These physicians also have special interests in treating interstitial pulmonary fibrosis, phrenic nerve or respiratory muscle dysfunction and sleep-disordered breathing. The division also has one of the most active lung transplant programs in the world. Other unique services include ventilator management of spinal cord injury, electrophrenic pacing of the diaphragm and brachytherapy for lung cancer. Exercise testing is available for evaluation of dyspnea and determination of pulmonary disability.
