Loyola
University Health System’s (Loyola) neonatologists
deliver care at Loyola's Level III Perinatal Center.
The center serves as a regional referral site for suburban
community hospitals. Critically ill newborns receive
care in a 50-bed neonatal intensive care unit, which
features the latest in medical technology. The supportive,
friendly environment allows families to visit at any
time of the day or night (with the exception of 9:30
a.m. to noon). Conditions treated include prematurity,
birth defects, breathing disorders, infection, bronchopulmonary
dysplasia and other complications of premature birth.
The staff includes board-certified neonatologists (physicians
specializing in disorders in newborns), neonatal nurse
practitioners, neonatal nurses and neonatal respiratory
therapists, all committed to helping each baby thrive.
In addition to state-of-the-art intensive care, prenatal
consultations and a developmental follow-up clinic are
offered.
