General Academic Pediatrics Services

General pediatricians at Loyola University Health System (Loyola) provide consultation and health-care services for children from birth through adolescence. They provide comprehensive care for acutely and chronically ill children in inpatient and outpatient settings. Care for children with special health-care needs also is coordinated through this division. Other services include routine well-child examinations; school, sports and camp physicals; developmental assessments of infants and preschool-age children; anticipatory guidance for parents and children; and counseling.

Specialty Services
Child Advocacy
Pediatric physicians are available to do multidisciplinary evaluations for child abuse. A child psychologist is available for behavioral and developmental health services as well as consultation for child protection and advocacy.

Chronic Care and Child Development
The Chronic Care Clinic is a service hub for children and adolescents who need a coordination of their subspecialty care using a comprehensive general pediatric approach. Every effort is made to facilitate the coordination of input from family, school, community, medical and surgical providers and ancillary medical services in order to properly address their multiple physical and developmental challenges.

General pediatricians in the community and from the other Loyola facilities are welcome to take advantage of this hub. Primary care services for these patients are offered at the Loyola Outpatient Center for as long as deemed necessary by the referring physician. The condition the patient is reviewed by a multidisciplinary team while the short and long term care recommendations are shared with caretakers.

Lead Screenings
Children are screened for exposure to lead and treated for lead poisoning.

Sports Medicine Program
A board-certified pediatric sports medicine pediatrician works with a multidisciplinary team of orthopaedists, physical medicine specialists and physical therapists to treat sports-related injuries in children and teens.
