Endocrinology Services
Loyola
University Health System’s (Loyola) pediatric
endocrinologists provide consultation, diagnosis and
management of endocrine disorders in conjunction with
primary care physicians. The division treats patients
with such problems as type I and type II diabetes mellitus,
short stature and growth failure, delayed and advanced
puberty, abnormal endocrine neonatal screening, thyroid
disorders, complications of obesity and metabolic bone
disease.

Diabetes
Care Center
Patients with type I and type II diabetes are evaluated
in the Diabetes Clinic by a team which includes the
pediatric endocrinologist, diabetes nurse educator,
dietitian and social worker.
Pediatric
Lipid Clinic
A pediatric endocrinologist and dietitian evaluate patients
with lipid disorders and/or a family history of early
coronary disease.
Metabolic
Bone Disease Clinic
This clinic provides evaluation and treatment of recurrent
fractures, osteoporosis and rickets.
Research
Pediatric endocrine research focuses on changes in vascular function in short children placed on human growth hormone and early changes of atherogenesis detected by ultrasound in children at risk for coronary artery disease.
