Laser Vision Center
The Laser Vision Center offers a variety of surgical procedures to improve your uncorrected vision. Refractive surgery corrects common vision problems including nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The results are normal or near normal vision without the need for glasses. Laser refractive surgery includes LASIK.

Contact Lenses
In addition to standard and cosmetic contact lens fitting and dispensing, contact lens specialists fit special contacts for medical needs such as abnormal cone-shaped protrusion of the cornea of the eye (keratoconus), post-corneal scarring, absence of the natural lens of the eye (aphakia), dimness of vision (amblyopia) and glare.

Cataract Surgery
Loyola is a leader in small-incision, sutureless cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation. Also offered is laser therapy for secondary cataract, a complication that may occur after original cataract surgery. Multifocal intraocular lenses will be offered in the future.

Corneal Disease
Areas of expertise by corneal surgeons include high-risk corneal transplantation and amniotic membrane transplantation; surgical management of severe ocular surface disease; treatment of keratoconus; evaluation and management of severe dry eyes; and treatment of corneal inflammation and infections.

Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a family of diseases that affect pressure in the eye, causing damage to the optic nerve. Damage to the optic nerve may result in loss of vision. Loyola offers a variety of treatment options for the different types of glaucoma.

Low Vision/Vision Rehabilitation
Low vision rehabilitation is the processes of treatment and education that helps if you are visually disabled to attain maximum function, a sense of well being, a personally satisfying level of independence and optimum quality of life.

Neuro-Ophthalmology
Physicians with training in both ophthalmology and neurology treat eye disorders including optic nerve problems, visual field loss, unexplained or transient visual loss, double vision, abnormal eye movements, thyroid eye disease, myasthenia gravis, unequal pupil size and eyelid abnormalities.

Oculoplastics
In addition to aesthetic procedures such as blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery), oculoplastic surgeons specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of blocked tear ducts, thyroid eye disease, eyelid tumors and malpositioned eyelids. They also perform eyelid reconstruction.

Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus
Diagnosis and treatment focuses on eye disorders in children and ocular motility disorders in both adults and children. Pediatric eye problems treated include retinopathy of prematurity, strabismus, congenital cataracts and glaucoma. Orthoptics is a specialized service for patients of all ages who have disorders of binocular vision or visual function deficits.

Retina/Vitreous and Diabetic Eye Care
Some of the more common retina/vitreous diseases treated include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment and retinal holes. Procedures that our retinal specialists offer include photodynamic therapy, also known as PDT, or Visudyne therapy, for macular degeneration and state-of-the-art laser treatment.

Ultrasonography
Ultrasound is used for many types of diseases within your eye.

Uveitis/Ocular Immunology
Specialists employe a multidisciplinary approach to diagnose and treat ocular inflammatory diseases.
