What to expect on the day of your surgery
Having any kind of surgery is a big decision.
Should you elect to have laser vision correction,
it's understandable to be a little bit nervous.
To alleviate concerns, here is some information
about what to expect on the day of your surgery:
- The procedure will take approximately 30 minutes
to complete. Expect to spend 2-1/2 hours at
the center (start to finish). The person who
has agreed to drive you home should know this.
- You will be escorted to a recovery suite
after the surgery where you can relax and enjoy
a snack. You will receive your post-operative
instructions there.
- Pain during the surgery is minimal, if you
have any at all, since the cornea and eyes are
anesthetized by drops. When the anesthetic wears
off, any irritation should only last for a few
days, depending on the specific type of surgery.
You may be sensitive to light for a few days
as well.
- Your doctor will recommend any specific restrictions
for the days following surgery based on your
individual case.
If you have any further questions, please call
us at (888) LUHS-888 and ask to speak with one
