Loyola University Health System
Loyola
University Health System (Loyola) endocrinologists provide
comprehensive evaluation and treatment of diabetes mellitus,
multiple endocrine neoplasia, female and male gonadal
dysfunction, and other hormonal disorders, including
of the thyroid, adrenal, parathyroid and pituitary glands.
They also provide care for patients
with bone and mineral disorders, including osteoporosis
and Paget’s disease. Diagnostic services include
radioimmunoassay, isotopic imaging, selective venous
sampling, chromosome analysis, fine-needle aspiration
and biopsy with cytochemistry.

Diabetes
Care Center
Adults with diabetes receive individualized
treatment from endocrinologists and other diabetes specialists
in this center, which is recognized by the American
Diabetes Association. The center holds monthly group sessions taught by certified diabetes educators.
Osteoporosis
& Metabolic Bone Disease Center
Osteoporosis screening, medical treatment and education
are offered, as are evaluation and treatment of metabolic
bone disorders, such as Paget’s disease.
Research
Basic
science and clinical studies focus on the role of blood
sugar control in preventing heart attacks and strokes
in people with diabetes, the impact of alcohol on reproduction,
effects of testosterone on bone disorders and brain
metabolism, and prevention of bone loss after lung transplantation.
