Loyola
University Health System and the Ronald McDonald®
Children’s Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center
provides a comprehensive program for the diagnosis and
management of Down syndrome. The goal of the clinic
is to help families identify and manage the special
medical needs of children with Down syndrome.
The multispecialty
clinic provides the following services:
- Assessment
of the special health-care needs of children with
Down syndrome
- Genetic
counseling
- Developmental/behavioral
assessment
A visit to
the clinic is approximately one hour and addresses genetic
issues specific to Down syndrome, pediatric anticipatory
guidance, as well as a developmental/behavioral assessment.
A report of the findings and recommendations are sent
to the child's primary care physician to assure the best
care of children with Down syndrome.
The clinic is open the second Tuesday of each month
