Cancer Detection and Prevention
The free symposium, sponsored
by the Loyola University Medical Center Auxiliary,
begins with hors d’oeuvres
and educational displays at 6 p.m.
At 7 p.m., Sheryl Gabram, M.D.,
director of the Breast Care Center at Loyola,
opens the first session with Teri Dougherty,
R.N.C., N.P. They will present “The Evidence
for Breast Self Exams, Clinical Exams and Other
Screening Modalities”and Karen Weiss, M.D.,
will present “Beyond Screening – Making the
Diagnosis of Breast Cancer.”
The second
session, from 8 p.m. - 9 p.m., starts with Kathy
Albain, M.D., medical oncologist and director,
Breast Cancer Research Program presenting “The
Latest in Breast Cancer Prevention.” Ronald
Potkul, M.D., gynecological oncologist and co-director,
Breast Care Center, will present “Hormonal Replacement
Therapy and
Breast Cancer Risk” followed by Therese
H. Roche, R.N., M.S.N., and Lynn Grogan, R.N.,
talking about the “ Breast Care Center Experience.”
