Preventing
Wintertime Burns and Fires
Now
that winter and the holiday season are here, burns and
home fires due to Christmas trees, candles, space heaters
and other appliances used to keep warm are a health
concern.
As
a leading burn center, Loyola University Health System
is providing the public with safety tips to ensure a
happy, healthy and safe season. Unfortunately, Loyola
sees far too many preventable home fires devastate families
at this time of year.
As
part of the campaign, Loyola is providing general holiday
safety tips on preventing fires and burns in both English
and Spanish language versions, as well as specific tips
for preventing tree and candle fires.
Through
the campaign, Loyola is distributing public service
announcements to radio and TV stations in the Chicago
area, again in both English and Spanish. Letters also
are being sent to community newspapers urging the public
to take precautions so they have a joyous and safe holiday
season.
