The
224,000-square-foot Loyola Outpatient Center (LOC) opened
to patients in June 2003. Located just south of the
Mulcahy Center, this remarkable addition has allowed
Loyola to organize clinics so that multidisciplinary
care is more convenient for patients. The building has
provided expanded ambulatory services for 14 clinical
departments, doubled the amount of ambulatory surgery
and radiation oncology space and added space to diagnostic
radiology and women's health services. The building
also includes a laboratory, optical shop and cafeteria.
The
$70 million building was created as a result of Loyola’s
increasing consumer demand for its primary and specialty
outpatient services, which exceed national and state
averages by more than 8 percent. The center combines
advanced technology with progressive medical care, while
heeding a trend to create an environment that meets
the spectrum of patients' physical and emotional needs.
