Imaging Center Brings Technology, Convenience to Suburbs

Loyola's Oakbrook Terrace Imaging Center brings state-of-the-art equipment and added convenience to the western suburbs. The center is located on the first floor of the Oakbrook Terrace Medical Center, 1S260 Summit Ave.

The open MRI is the first within the health system. Now, patients a have choice between the closed MRI, located on the Maywood campus, and the open MRI at Oakbrook Terrace.

The equipment housed at the new location includes:

• OpenSpeed MRI - The open MRI is one of the few higher-field open MRI's in the Chicago area. The .7 tesla magnet produces a higher-quality image and is among the newest MRI's on the market.
• CT/i scanner - The scanner brings advanced technology in a location that can be more convenient than traveling to the Maywood campus for some patients.
• CR (Computed Radiography) - This technology provides conventional X-rays in a digital viewing format that eliminates traditional X-ray film processing. The X-ray film images are available to the radiologists and referring physicians simultaneously through the computer system. This will decrease significantly the time required for the radiologist to get the final results to the patient and physician.

The center also has fax interface capability with IDX Radiology that is already in place for internal physicians at the main campus. The staff is working toward 24-hour-turn-around time for most X-ray readings.

The staff at the imaging center includes a radiologist who is on site for most of the day, an assistant manager, a registered nurse, two diagnostic radiology technologists, one MRI technologist and one CT technologist. In addition, two dedicated service representatives expedite patient check in.

The hours of operation for the Oakbrook Terrace Imaging Center are:

     Diagnostic Radiography

• Monday through Friday - 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.

     MRI and CT imaging

• Monday, Tuesday and Friday - 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
• Wednesday and Thursday - 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
