| Enhancing
the Loyola Experience
Imagine
walking into a new two-story hospital lobby filled
with attractive, modern furnishings and flooded
with natural light. The soothing sounds of flowing
water can be heard from the nearby fountain.
This is what patients and visitors will experience
as part of Loyola University Health System’s
$103 million medical
center expansion that is scheduled to be completed
in phases beginning in early 2008.
Getting Around During Construction
In the meantime, the entrance to the hospital
has been relocated while construction is underway.
The new entryway is near the entrance to Parking
Deck A, just south and west of the former entrance
at Russo.
Loyola understands the challenges that visitors
face in getting around its medical
center campus. To that end, convenience and
accessibility have been enhanced at the relocated
entrance to include a wider wheelchair ramp, a
larger landing, automatic door openers and a canopy
extending to the street. Valet parking is available.
More wheelchairs are available for use by visitors
and patients at the new entryway. Benches line
the walkway to the hospital, making it easy to
rest while moving from one building to another.
