Hours/Coverage
Social Work On-Call
The Social Work Department provides Social Work coverage on a 24-hour
basis. MSWs are available from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days per
week. An on-call system is utilized from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
The on-call services are primarily telephone consultation with call
back for the following situations:
- Emergency Room child abuse cases requiring a psychosocial
assessment in order to complete diagnostic and treatment planning.
Emergency Room domestic violence requiring a psychosocial assessment
and resources prior to discharge.
Emergency Room sexual assault cases not requiring hospitalization.
In-house psychosocial situations that affect an immediate
disposition and cannot be handled without Social Work consultation.
The evening Emergency Room nurse coordinator or the in-house evening
nurse supervisor determines Social Work on-call referrals.
Assigned LSW/MSW Social Workers rotate on-call on a weekly basis.
