Dr. Origitano assumed oversight of the department as Professor of Neurological Surgery and Chair in April 1997. Since that time he has doubled the faculty, and opened new laboratories in neuro-oncology and spinal cord injury. He has been invited to speak at national and international symposia about his clinical expertise in Cranial Base Surgery, Cerebrovascular Disorders, and Neuro-oncology. Dr. Origitano has personally overseen the growth of the department's reputation and local presence, planning and developing the new Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Inpatient Facility, and Neurosurgery Office Space and Laboratories.
