Hospital Expansion

Enhancing the Loyola Experience…….Enhancing your Career

The Future is Now! Join the Excitement
The Loyola University Medical Center Expansion has been designed to provide patient-centered care with state-of-the-art facilities. The expansion will include 12 new operating rooms, new pre-operative and recovery areas, 4 cardiac cath labs, 4 EP labs and new areas for non-invasive cardiac and peripheral vascular diagnostics. These clinical areas will be supported by an expanded reprocessing area, a frozen section lab and comfortable family/visitor spaces. Click here for updates on the new building.

Additionally, there will be 2 new medical/surgical units of 32 private rooms each. One 32-bed surgical unit will have telemetry capability for all beds. This unit will provide care for acute general and urology surgical patients with some overflow of gynecological surgical and other surgical specialty patients. The other 32-bed telemetry unit will provide care for post-procedure Cath Lab, EP, Cardiovascular and Thoracic/endovascular inpatients.

Practice within a Patient-Centered Model
The nursing units have been designed to provide patient-centered care. Care provided on these units will be guided by specifically developed patient satisfaction standards and incorporate the Patient Encounters behaviors. Click here to review Patient Encounters standard.

Patient care staff will be trained and evaluated on both clinical care and ability to achieve high levels of patient satisfaction. Patient care staff will conduct patient rounds, obtain and respond to patient/visitor feedback and participate on patient satisfaction committees evaluating/improving patient care processes. Successful candidates will apply their clinical expertise while demonstrating their flexibility and openness to change.

A position on one of these nursing units provides the opportunity to be involved in opening a new department with advanced technological capability.

Selection Process
The selection process for the nursing unit staff will evaluate applicants on both clinical experience and patient satisfaction approach. Each applicant will complete the on-line employment assessment prior to interviews. The interview process will consist of an HR interview and a three member panel interview.

Support staff (Patient Care Techs and Service Coordinators) will complete a similar panel interview process with a focus on customer service skills.

Apply Now
Interested candidates should complete the on-line application and survey by accessing the HR web site now. Interviewing will begin by mid-February.

The new units are posted under Nursing HVC 4 (surgical) and Nursing HVC 5 (cardiology) with positions available for RNs, PCTs and Service Coordinators.

Additionally, positions such as Dietitians, Dietary Aides, Service Associate and Patient Transporters will be created due to this expansion.
