Minutes of the
Faculty Senate Steering Committee Meeting
Present:
Drs. Dana
Bradziunas, Allen Wolfe, Kim Kenton, Phong Le, Nancy Muma.
Excused:
Drs. John Godwin,
Michael Schneck, Sean Cahill, John McNulty, Bill Cannon, Kim Dell’Angela, Jack
Lee.
The meeting with Drs. Barbato and Slogoff for September has
been canceled since they will both be out of town.
Goals for the academic
year
- The manpower task force numbers will be explored.
- The Dean Forum and recruitment of the new dean
- Increase the voice of faculty and give input to the
administration
- The website will be continued and Sam Cukierman will
continue to be the webmaster. The Senate website might include other
resource information for faculty via Donna Halinski.
- Meet with Rich Kennedy to explore mutual goals.
- Creating a relationship with the new dean.
Dean Forum
We will develop a list of
questions for the forum. We discussed sponsoring these to increase faculty
participation. We will e-mail questions to Dana and then discuss them at the
next meeting. Question: What do you value and how will you make that a priority
in the Medical School? Empowerment of faculty versus “micromanagment”.
BSI Compensation
Committee
The committee met with Dr. Slogoff in July and
he has not gotten back to them with regards to follow up on the teaching
conventions.
