of the Steering Committee.
Website
Sam Cukierman is trying to get a “hits”
counter for the website but has run into problems.
The Serotonin Related Disorders Research
Group will write up a section for the Featured Faculty section of the website.
Paul Herring and Jack Lee were asked and
will be encouraged and reminded to write for the Invited commentary and New and
views sections of the website respectively.
Faculty Meetings
Nancy Muma will speak with Richard Kennedy
about the upcoming meeting that will feature him.
Dana Bradziunas will speak with Tom Kelly
about posting a letter from Tom to Tony Castro describing the retirement health
benefits and the upcoming meeting that will feature him as the main speaker.
The Faculty meeting featuring Myles Sheehan
will be scheduled in August to include new faculty and occur after the start of
new classes.
Faculty Handbook
Suggestions for revisions to the Faculty
Handbook were discussed. We agreed that the linkage of tenure to compensation
should be included and that the discussion of rescheduling of classes and
classrooms should be removed since it is not pertinent to the Medical Center.
FIS
We discussed the problem that there are
numerous errors in FIS and the potential conflicts with percent effort reported
on FIS and effort reporting to NIH. Kim Kenton will contact Dr. Kennedy on
behalf of the Steering Committee to discuss these problems.
Elections
Elections for new members of the Steering
Committee will be held in May. The terms for the secretary, 1 basic science
faculty representative and 1 clinical faculty representative are up for election
this year.
BSI
Lothar Blatter was elected as
chair of the BSI Advisory Committee at the first meeting of the committee. The
Steering Committee will contact Dr. Kennedy for his suggestions for changes to
the BSI plan.
