Minutes

amendments.
Faculty Health Care Retirement Benefits
Dr. Barbato
informed us that a
meeting with Tom Kelly and the faculty is planned to discuss the change in
retirement benefits. Continued insurability was not made clear in the letters
but does apply. The letters were generally difficult to understand and the
meeting with Tom Kelly will help to clarify the changes. Dr. Slogoff suggested
that if you work at LUMC from age 50 to 65 the change is revenue neutral. If you
join after age 50 then the change is a cut in benefits. The faculty senate can
sponsor the forums. Dr. Slogoff suggested that opting in the plan and linkage to
plan B was not clear and needs to be clarified.informed us that the
reporting line for the graduate nursing school is proposed to switch from the
Provost, Dr. Facione to Dr. Barbato. This switch is likely to occur by July 1.
The undergraduate nursing program will remain on the Lake Shore campus. This
change is intended to increase the interaction of the nursing school faculty
with the Medical Center faculty.
Parking
Parking space will
be increased as soon as the weather breaks and asphalt can be laid on space
where buildings were torn down. Parking problems will continue until about July.
Dean Search
The first meeting will be held on Tuesday. Dr. Luchette
will head the committee. The Faculty Senate steering committee will help lead
the forums to meet with candidates. There are currently no candidates and the
choice for dean has not been made. Its important to make this point to
faculty to increase faculty attendance at meetings with candidates.
BSI
Compensation Committee
Dr. Slogoff suggested that a person who would not be
eligible for the supplement should not be on the committee. The plan could be
amended to add this limitation to membership on the committee.
Faculty
Senate Website
Website design is completed and ready to be posted on the
web. We should monitor the number of unique hits. Neither Drs. Barbato nor
Slogoff had a problem with the site being on the internet rather than just on
the intranet.
