Pediatric Mild Traumatic Head Injury
Patient Education Resources
Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) has developed a series
of free patient education resources to assist in preparing your patient's
parents and caregivers to care for a child diagnosed with a mild traumatic head
injury.
These publications are developmentally-specific for infants, toddlers and older
children/teens. There is a fourth
version that encompasses information for all ages.
In addition, the "Care Agreement" can be utilized if your Emergency
Department chooses to use this education as part of a standard discharge
instruction procedure.
The "Return To Play Guidelines" one-page handout reviews the step wise process
created by the
2nd International Conference on Concussion in Sport.
Consider providing multiple copies of this resource to your parents/caregivers
to share with coaches, day care providers, school nurses, and other family
members who care for their children.

formats.
