Course Description
The purpose of the NURSE - Pediatric Hyperglycemia and Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) educational module is to enhance the care of pediatric patients who present with hyperglycemia and/or DKA. It will discuss a number of topics including:

  • Assessment

  • Management

  • Prevention of Complications

  • Disposition, and

  • Patient & Parent/Caregiver Education

It is our hope that nursing professionals will utilize these materials to further enhance the care of children in their own institutions.

Course Materials
Materials may be downloaded and/or printed to suit your hospital's needs.

At this time, EMSC is not offering formal continuing education credit for this education.  However, you are free to use the copyright-free materials if you wish to apply for continuing education credit through your own hospital's department of nursing education.  We provided links to the PowerPoint presentation, Post-test and Evaluation form that can be adapted as needed.
