WHO IS EMMY?

In 1998, kindergarten students from St. Joan of Arc School in Lisle were the winners in the Illinois EMSC "Name the Bear" contest.  Their winning entry was selected from more than 850 ballots received from throughout the state to name the bear that symbolizes the EMSC program.  The bear is now known as EMMY, which stands for "Emergency Medicine is a Must for the Young".  The students, along with their teacher Mary Fennell, were recognized during an EMS Open House/Safety Fair at Loyola University Medical Center on EMSC Day - May 20, 1998.
