Quality and Safety Fair Purpose
Loyola
University Health System believes “that thoughtful
stewardship, learning and constant reflection on experience improve all
we do as we strive to provide the highest quality health care.”
In
keeping with this mission, the
Quality & Safety Fair provides an opportunity for health system members
to:

Present project storyboards that display quality and safety improvement
processes that are achieving significant outcomes
·
Network with colleagues to gain insights, practical knowledge and
encouragement to address quality and safety issues in care and service
·
Learn about the quality improvement strategies, safety practices, and
change management techniques used by project team members
·
Recognize the achievements of outstanding quality improvement teams
Who Should Submit Storyboard Applications?
All Loyola University Health System members are encouraged to submit
improvement project storyboard abstracts. The projects should
demonstrate outcomes that improved quality of care and/or service and/or
safety or provided significant learning about care processes and/or
service delivery. Projects may address (but are not limited to) the
following topics:

MAGIS – including patient,
family, student, or employee satisfaction
·
Improved clinical or service quality
·
Improved safety for patients or staff

·
Improved cost effectiveness
·
Standardized care
·
Improved operations (physician practice,
departmental, operational, and other support services)
·
Interdepartmental or cross service collaboration |

Process for Selection and Recognition
Projects will be selected for participation in the Quality & Safety Fair
and recognized using the following process:
·
Project team leaders will complete and submit a Quality Improvement
Project Storyboard application no later than
January 23, 2009.
·
The Quality Coordinating Council will review the abstracts and select
projects that meet the selection criteria (see above).
·
Project teams will prepare and display a poster presentation of their
project that demonstrates quality improvement methodology.
·
Projects demonstrating outstanding achievement in the following
categories will be recognized at the Quality Fair with awards:
·
Demonstration of MAGIS Values & Behaviors
·
Improved Clinical Processes & Outcomes
·
Improved Safety
·
Operations Improvement/Improved Resource Utilization
Important
Information
Deadline for submitting electronic
applications is January 23, 2009
·
Examples of Storyboards may be viewed in the Center for Clinical
Effectiveness (CCE) reception area on the third floor of the Maguire
building.
·
Assistance in preparing the storyboard application is available through
the Center for Clinical Effectiveness, Ext. 63290.
Storyboard Information:
·
Storyboards/poster boards must be table top or able to be hung from a
free standing bulletin board.
·
The viewer of an unattended storyboard should be able to understand how
the quality improvement process was used and the results of the project.
·
Storyboards will be displayed on April
14 & 15, 2010. A representative(s) of the project team will be asked
to be present during the Quality Fair hours, of 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Storyboard
content must be submitted to CCE as a MS PowerPoint presentation. The
content will be reviewed by Risk Management prior to presentation and
may require revision. Each storyboard will be included in a Quality Fair
publication.
