William
M. Barron, MD, FACP, MMM
William Barron, MD, FACP, MMM, is vice president of
Quality and Safety at Loyola University Health System
(Loyola) and Loyola University Physician Foundation
(LUPF). He also is professor of medicine and obstetrics
and gynecology at Loyola University Chicago Stritch
School of Medicine. He is responsible for leading efforts
to improve the quality, safety, and value of health-care
services rendered throughout all of Loyola. In addition
to his administrative duties, Barron continues to practice
internal medicine and teaches residents and students
in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Previously, Barron served as director, division of
general internal medicine at LUHS. From 1983 to 1994, he
was a member of the faculty at the University of Chicago,
where he was the recipient of NIH Clinical Investigator
and Individual Investigator Awards addressing renal
physiology and water metabolism in pregnancy.
Barron attended the University of Southern California
School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal
medicine at the University of California, Davis Medical
Center. He trained as an NIH-supported research fellow at
the University of Chicago in renal physiology. In 2001,
Barron completed a master's degree in medical management
from Carnegie Mellon University.
