The
Ronald McDonald® Children's Hospital of Loyola provides
special services in the health care of children, ranging
from inpatient to outpatient care in general pediatrics
to pediatric subspecialties. Nearly 100 full-time pediatricians
and pediatric subspecialists are part of the hospital
and teach at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School
of Medicine. Pediatricians also can see patients at
our primary care centers in several suburban locations.
Located in Maywood, Ill.,
as a hospital within a hospital, the 100-bed Ronald
McDonald® Children's Hospital of Loyola consists
of:
- A 50-bed Level III Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit
- A 16-bed Pediatric Intensive
Care Unit designed with the latest technology and
family amenities
- 34 general pediatric
beds
- A monitored unit for
infants and toddlers
Special
programs and services:
- The Pediatric
and Neonatal Home Care Program – developed in
1993 to enhance the continuum of care provided
to children and their families in their own
homes.
- The Hospital School
Program – the only such program in Chicagoland
to employ a full-time teacher to assist hospitalized
children with their school work, during their
hospital stay.
- The Ronald McDonald
House Near Loyola, Inc. – a 16-bedroom facility
adjacent to Loyola that serves families of children
undergoing treatment for serious illnesses.
- An active Family
Advisory Council – one of the few in the United
States where parents provide monthly feedback
to clinicians and managers on the care provided
to children in Loyola's health system.
- Child Life Program
